The Knight's Promise

She was not taken from her home -- she was chosen. Chosen to nurture a power so few have been blessed with. Chosen to serve a nation and king. She needed guidance, the kind that can only be found far away. She did not hesitate. She sought the power sleeping within her to fulfill the simple promise -- to be strong enough to protect her Mama and Papa when the time came.

The Knight's Promise is the second of five short stories introducing the five main characters of my new series, The Covenant Cycle. This story follows a young girl who accepts an invitation to leave her homelife to transform herself into a Rune Knight - an elite warrior who harnesses immense magical power. In order to learn and become who she needs to be, she must leave behind all that she once knew: her home, her family, her life, and even her name.
