Machete is a hotheaded, reckless thief who lives in a dangerous, cutthroat place called Cabarete Village. After getting caught and nearly killed by merchants Machete decides to become a Sanky Panky (gigolo) instead in order to seduce rich, merchant daughters. Machete sets his sights on the mysterious, sickly daughter of the merchant Bartholomew - Lady Blanca. But is Blanca as fragile as she first appears? Machete is unable to concentrate on his seduction of Blanca, however, when pirates attack the village and take his mother Esperanza hostage. 

Machete goes to face their captain who turns out to be Captain Envy - one of the Seven Deadly Pirates that rules the seas. He loses pathetically against Captain Envy, but the evil, half-merman, half-man pirate offers Machete a deal. If Machete can somehow amass the sum of 1,000 pieces-of-eight then Machete can buy back his mother and Cabarete Village’s freedom. Machete convinces a werewolf pirate captain to lend him a ship, seduces a beautiful siren witch to get his hands on a map (but who is she really???), and he sets sail on a quest to find Pirate King Pride’s lost treasure. 

As he sails across the seas Machete gathers an interesting crew of allies: a samurai sushi chef, a navigator mermaid, a vampire, ex-Templar Knight among others. Deadly enemies are made as well when Machete ends up accidentally killing Captain Gluttony, making him an enemy of the remaining Seven Deadly Pirates who also happen to be trying to locate Pride’s treasure. It becomes a race to the Pirate King’s gold…
