"We don't know how much longer is left," the doctor spoke.

"What the hell do you mean? She isn't going to live?" I panicked, squeezing her hand tighter.

"The brain injury isn't getting any better, not to mention her body has been refusing food in any forms. It's just a matter of days, maybe even hours, before her body gives up," he explained, being very to the point about it.

I looked to her grandpa for help, but he just sat there with tears in his eyes. I looked back to the doctor who I knew could see the pain on my face.

"What haven't you tried?" I ask in silence.

"There's a high risk she won't survive what we haven't tried. We wanted you guys to enjoy your last moments with Kadence before the good Lord took her home," the doctor continued.

"What Lord is there to take her away from me at such a young fucking age!" I cursed as my tears fell

It wasn't fair, she was supposed to grow old with me. We just got her better, we just changed her life around, and now that stupid bitch had to take her away from me.
