Twelve year old Gilly Morris is about to journey through a summer of loss, bullies, guilt and terror. Told from her point of view, 2003 is the summer when the horrible, terrible thing happened to her and her mother. Journey's Child is the story of unimaginable loss and pain, and where redemption comes at a high price. Drakes Harbor is an old art community on the Oregon coast where Gilly and her mother spend that fateful summer. Alone with her guilt and pain, Gilly befriends a grizzled hermit living with his own loss. Journey's Child isn't a story of what life can take away but rather the cautionary tale of surviving the storm together.

In a haze of despair, 22-year-old Zoe is on the edge, contemplating an escape from her pain. Everything changes when she meets Asher , the charming yet reckless boy she can't stand. He seems to embody everything she loathes, the popular boy who has eveything ; friends, family, happiness and messes his life up without a care in the world but fate seems to have other plans for both of them. As their lives collide in unexpected ways, Zoe discovers that beneath Asher's cool facade lies a depth of struggles that resonates with her own. Their connection ignites something within her-a flicker of hope that challenges her darkest thoughts and makes her question if life really is that fragile and sad to be ended that fast. Can this unlikely bond pull her back from the brink, or will it lead them both into deeper shadows? ---
