Veronica Sawyer thought that it was the end of the crazy ride through death and bombs and crazy people but it was actually just beginning. After the supposed 'death' of Jason Dean and her friends, Veronica moved out and into a different state where she wanted to begin anew. She starts work at the midnight shift of a 7-11 shop and gets paid for doing almost nothing but serving their regular midnight liquor and newspaper customer who, at first, Veronica has no care for. But a month later, after she is abused by her boss, Mr. Thry (Veronica's Boss) dies of a man in a dark trench coat shooting him in his own home. And the man who shot him is now after someone else. Veronica.

Veronica pays no mind to the signs but later gets suspicious of their midnight customer who starts visitting more often. And later finds out why.
