Being a female in the military is hard, but being the first female in a combat job in nearly impossible.
Carley Dukes, also known as private Dukes, was the first female to be let into the military as a combat engineer. Dukes has learned to deal with the hardships of the military as well as the fun times. Pvt Dukes job was to look for IEDs and other explosives, she would have to breach doors and walls. She would live in constant fear of her vehicle hitting an IED while she was clearing routes for the other soldiers. Her entire life was about change the day she left for deployment to Afghanistan.
