Bronwen (Bronnie) Hughes is seventeen-years-old and has just moved across the country with her mom from Pittsburgh to California. Bronnie has danced her entire life, it's all she's ever wanted and it's all she's ever known. Don't get me wrong, she's intelligent and does very well in school - but to Bronnie - a life without dance isn't really a life at all.

Now meet Elijah Pérez he's eighteen-years-old and the bad boy of Crosswood High, which just so happens to be Bronnie's new high school. He's everything you'd think a bad boy would be; he's destructive, cruel, sleeps around, lives to fight and is just downright sexy.
But is everything you hear true?
I mean, he is devastatingly gorgeous and has been in his fair share of fights, but is he actually heartless and brutally cruel?
California is a lot more than just dance auditions and beaches - which Bronnie is about to learn the hard way. In order for her to get into the most prestigious dance school in the world, she's going to have to stay focused and put everything she has into preparation for her final audition in New York City. I mean, how hard can that be as long as she doesn't get distracted?
But that's the problem, Eli might just be the biggest distraction she's had yet, but that's not necessarily a bad thing - as she's about to find out.
