Dakota's mom, Sierra Bulc died giving birth to Dakota and her siblings, London, and Grace Salvatore. Dakota, London, and Grace have been trying to track down Damon down and when they find him and find out what they are.

When Damon and Stefan were turned in 1864 Klaus took her in and looked after her so she didn't have much memory of her parents as she also thought Katherine was in the tomb. She was reunited with Damon again in 1867 on her 3rd birthday and he looked after her as Katherine didn't want to look after her. She lived with Damon and stefan her whole life.
