Soon after, a boy rolls out of the woods near her house and into the hedges of her garden. She joins him to his century to tutor him. Matilda explores this new world to find a worn out letter from James Madison, which disintegrates in her hand. The boy who took her here takes her back and all around to figure out what Mr. Madison wanted to say.
