Takila was orphaned as a baby, left on the doorstep of an outpost on a dirt road in the middle of a forest, a place for hunters to rest before heading home. Raised by the young couple who owned the outpost, she explored the woods often, sometimes camping for a few days or a week at a time by herself as she explored. Now, Takila is 14, and her entire life changes when she meets Lukashi, a talking bear with strange powers of his own, after he rescues her from a rabid bear.
Suddenly finding herself pulled into a world of danger and secrets, Takila realizes that not only is there more to herself but also to Lukashi....and that the secrets that surround both of them are secrets that others will do anything to discover.
