I thought the first time I will utter the words "I love you" to another person. It will be reciprocated, and vocalized back to me. But, instead all I get was a harsh laugh at my face.
In that moment,
I realized this was how being heartbroken felt.

Reuben was overweight in middle school, but went to a fat camp and boarding school for two years. Reuben was bullied and teased most of his life, because of his weight. “Hey faggot!” I winced at the sound of the one and only star quarter back. He wasn't wrong, I was gay, but that word was just so offensive. I hated that I came out, hated the fact more than you could ever guess. It had cost me all but three of my friends, most of my freedom and every second that had been left of my childhood.
