So, basically, this is something I had to write for English class. It's a modernization of the first part of the tale Beowulf, an Old English epic from 700BCE. For those not familiar with this tale, the basic idea: Grendel is a demon who rises up and slaughters a mead-hall full of warriors, for the simple sake of them being too loud, as he has sensitive ears. Beowulf is a "hero" who "willingly" goes to Denmark to kill Grendel, constantly bragging about his deeds and how he can slay this monster. Spoiler alert, he does. In the original tale, at least.

Anyways, this is my modern twist on the first Old English bit of literature. Enjoy!

"Ha. So the old man's got a family, how sad! They'll see him die soon enough." You whispered as you grabbed 4 throwing knives for each hand. You positioned them and made your arms form an X, and you threw. Closing your eyes, you sighed and awaited the screams that would follow. "My, my, my. What do we have here? An assassin perhaps?" A deep British voice pondered. Dang. You had been caught by someone. Before you turned around you saw the family of the criminal move inside the house. Dammit! Your knives missed him? What? You finally turned around to look at a man with brownish reddish eyes, his black hair blown lightly by the wind, and in his white gloves... were your knives. You stared at him in bewilder. "How did you catch my knives? I didn't feel the wind from you at all! Why did you save him? He deserved to die!" You exclaimed angrily. He just laughed and answered. "Would you care to join us at the Phantomhive manor?" Enjoy~

The Queen's New Pet (A Black Butler Fanfic)

36 parts Complete

Everyone knows who the Queen's guard dog is: Ciel Phantomhive. What happens when the Queen finds another pet, this time a sly kitty with her unearthly butler, and decides to make a team of the two? Excerpt from Chapter One: "Lady Maria Elrose, also known as the Queen's kitten." The butler's eyes widened a little bit before he was rudely shoved aside by a smaller boy with an eyepatch and one blue eye that was visible. "She's a girl?! An actual girl?!" He looked her over, his shock momentarily showing. "You are the Queen's dog, are you not," Maria replied. "I do not believe you are an actual dog either." Ciel looked long and hard at her, realizing that she wasn't just some ditzy - animal - pet of the Queen. ----------------------------------- Excerpt from Chapter 10: Sebastian slowly shook his head, and Ciel closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair, his untouched tea sitting on the table before him. Anyone - human or demon - could literally see the worry rolling off of him in waves. Sebastian himself felt a twinge of... something. "I will find her, my Lord." He bowed deeply as Ciel responded. "You had better, I ordered you to."
