Through Light and Shadow
Aveline never expected to find herself in a world like Elarion-vast and brimming with magic beyond her understanding. Called to a land of ancient mysteries and hidden dangers, she must navigate the unknown, uncovering the truth of her own power along the way. But magic is not just a gift-it is a force that shapes destinies, forges alliances, and ignites wars. As Aveline journeys across Elarion, she will meet those who guide her, those who seek to use her, and those who fear what she may become. Friend or foe, light or shadow-nothing is ever as simple as it seems. To survive, Aveline must embrace her strengths, face her weaknesses, and carve her own place in a world that may never accept her. Her story is one of magic, growth, and the choices that define who we are. And in Elarion, every choice has consequences. ~ Hi! This is my first fantasy book, and I hope you enjoy it! When Kacia discovers the forbidden magic running through her veins, she is given a choice - pretend her powers belong to her worst enemy, and use them to help him cement his claim to the throne - or forfeit her life. Can she play along for long enough to plot Ash's downfall, or is their fake truce about to turn into something a lot more complicated? ✨ Throughout fifteen years of Lathrian rule, Kacia has dreamt only of her family and her freedom. After she braves a storm-tossed mountainside in search of reunion with a mother she hasn't seen for a decade, she discovers that she has the power to mimic the magic of others - an ability that sees her sentenced to death by the Lathrian Kingdom which controls her people. That is, until the Lathrian king demands she uses her powers to legitimise his stepson's claim to the throne. If she agrees, she can keep her life - for now. Kacia becomes caught between the volatile brothers she didn't know existed and a prince who is more sympathetic than he seems. The Art of Courts and Lies (Book 1 in The Gifted Trilogy)
Ice flooded my veins as the realization of who he was hit me. It must have been evident on my face because the man in front of me let out a dark laugh. "Oh dear, you didn't realize you were talking to a royal, did you darling?" he crooned. Not just any royal. Kesserian Cinis. The recently coronated king and ruler over the Ember Court. I forgot how to breathe, my mind whirring as it tried to figure out how I could have been so stupid as to let this happen. *************************************************** Wren Heatherfield is on the run. Having turned 18, she is now in danger of becoming selected for the Garner, a deadly game in which the six kings who rule over her continent take eighteen non-magical girls and make them fight for their lives. But as she tries to avoid the game by running away with her best friend and her sister, she consequently finds herself doomed to be a competitor in the 246th Garner. But the Garner isn't the only thing capable of killing her. In a castle surrounded by kings with dark powers and girls fighting for their lives, she may find that the politics of royalty can be just as deadly as their games. No one can be trusted in a palace full of monsters and, if Wren has any hopes of survival, she may have to become one herself.Completa
