Aaron ran and ran, pushing the limits of his lungs, until he abruptly slid to a stop, finding an alluring scent of honey and flowers past his melancholy. He rotated his ears slowly focusing hard, picking up shallow breathing, and small whimpers of a shivering female. He carefully followed his senses until he found a young girl who must have been freezing out here for hours from the way she looked all curled up against the tree. He shifted back into his human form, cautiously approaching her. The closer he got to her, the more he could understand what she was to him, the more he could feel their bond. He slowly wrapped his arms around her small body, feeling sparks spread throughout his. Aaron brushed snow away from her red face and brown hair. She moved closer to him, letting out such a desperate whimper, and he couldn't help the need to comfort her. "Shh... You're alright little one. I've got you, I won't let go." His voice was soft as he spoke to her, afraid to frighten her. Though he realized she was probably to cold and desperate for heat to be to afraid of him. He pressed his lips to her cold forehead gently. "You're safe now." He would keep her safe, he wouldn't ever let Haden get anywhere near her. This was the one thing, Haden could never take from him.

After being rejected by her husband and Alpha in front of half the werewolf world, Allison does the only thing left that makes sense- she walks away. Heartbroken but unbowed, she rebuilds from the ground up, turning her experience as a Luna into something new: Luna's Compass, a consultancy that fixes the messes other packs are too proud to admit they made. No attachments. No politics. No pity. But fate has a sense of humor. Her newest client, Gordon Hale, is a widowed Alpha raising three daughters and holding his pack together by sheer will. What starts as a six-month contract becomes something far more complicated- professionally, politically, and painfully personal. Between grief, politics, and the slow burn of something she swore she'd never feel again, Allison must learn that fate isn't about who you're tied to - It's about who you become when the bond breaks.
