Spencer Carrol and her boyfriend Ryan Washington are the 'it' couple of Riverview High School. Popular, charismatic, loving - everyone wants to have a relationship like theirs. To all their friends, they are on top of the world. But to those who look closer, they are falling apart at the seams. Ryan's struggle with mental illness is putting their relationship in jeopardy, and Spencer isn't sure how much longer she can hold on as he continuously turns to her to take out his emotions. When the school's bad boy, Jasper Williams, happens to notice their struggle, his careless attitude doesn't stop him from getting involved and trying to help Spencer relearn what it means to love. But will it be at the cost of her relationship with Ryan?

Phoebe Waterton is the mid-size ginger girl at top of her class, with a full ride to Brown next fall. Nominated as most likely to succeed in every yearbook. Despite the academic talent she holds and the wealth her family acquired, there is one thing missing in her seemingly perfect life, love. Griffin Strongfell is the most popular boy in school, he hands a large group of friends and every girl falls to his feet with just a glance. However, his life is an inescapable nightmare. His mother is a drug addict incapable of providing for him, he has little to no anticipation for his future and one nasty nicotine addiction. Griffin and Phoebe despise each other, nobody knew exactly why. The two opposites had always been at each other's throats since he moved to town. No matter how much they deny the truth, there is a thin line between love and hate. Navigating that line would be the hardest thing either had ever experienced.
