Myra Kate Durden's vacation to Nevada changed thousands of lives, including her own, forever.
The dark cloud following the accident that killed her father 3 months prior left the 19 year-old poet without anything to write, which is essential to a professional like Kate who depends on writing for an income. That is why her mother suggested she journeyed to Nevada's wild plains in the first place, to gain some inspiration and shake loose the depression. But she soon realizes that's not all her mother intended.
Kate realizes that she is needed much more that she ever imagined by horses and humans alike.
She ends up falling in love at first sight. It's a special, different love, a love that not only ends up saving her career, but something much more.
