Emma Raine is 18, driving across country solo for college in sunny Santa Monica. She's desperate to escape the sadness that hangs over her house after her runaway sister broke their parents' hearts. With a physical impairment and a broken heart of her own, she sets off on a week-long road trip towards her future. For Emma, the trip is her chance to be free, to be her own person, instead of Crazy Callie's little sister. She determined to be someone else by the time she reaches California. Along the way, she meets several interesting people- people who change her life and challenge her viewpoint.
