Bren was a careless nobles son, who had little interest in doing anything but playing with swords and winning hearts with his dazzling smile.
Vix was bred in her families not-so-reputable apothecary and the taverns of the dirty city, with nothing more on her mind than winning money in street brawls and brewing the perfect poison.
That was, until, The Cruel King attacked. Coming out of nowhere, with a force never before seen, The cruel king burned cities, stole money and land, and murdered with an almost gleeful fervor.
Now Bren in a pawn in The Cruel King's glittering cage of palace, and Vix is a slave in The Cruel King's farmland.
Under the rule of a tyrannical murderer, revolution is brewing, in the halls of a palace, and in the shadows of a slave yard.
