You just moved back to London. You had gone to America when you were just a kid, your mom and you were "adventurers" as she used to put it. But you knew the truth as you got older. She had been in trouble with the law. You had spent almost your whole life in America but wanted to go back to England where you could meet you relatives. The whole town you lived in knew about your mother. How she was in trouble with the law in England. He was a "horrid man" your mom would say. He supposedly beat your mother to death almost. But you knew the truth about that too. He had left her because she cheated on him so many times and for no reason. Your father had tried to take youm but your mother won custody.
