The ageing captain of her ship can't do much about the fact that it nearly gets sunk in the daily battles, so when Ellie receives an offer from the young, dashing Tristan to join his crew, she doesn't hesitate. However, Ellie has an undesirable past, one that meant she was labelled an outsider on her last ship and one that she will keep hidden at all costs. But the clever and ever- perceiving Tristan is hard to keep in the dark, especially when she discovers her feelings for him . . . she can't decide if she loves or loathes the man.
