Tensions between two dimensions, Rustin (the "upper", earth-like dimension) and the Ether (the "lower" dimension populated with magical creatures) have reached boiling point.
...Well, if we're being brutally honest: the tension's been boiling over and flooding the proverbial stove for a while now.
Beginning with an ill-fated diplomatic trip to Rustin, Etherians (Ether natives), Mytherians (magical creatures native to Rustin), and humans have been split into two main factions: those who continue to support laws put in place on Rustin to protect humans-and, supposedly, magical groups-from traditions and rituals used by Mytherians and Etherians that would bring harm, and those who don't.
Now the leader of the rebel faction and former monarch of the Assembled Parthenons, Kohl Ramsey, has put a plan in motion that would accumulate in not only the potential overthrowing of the leaders of his enemies, but force the human world leaders to reverse the Safety Acts.
Suddenly thrown into this-through unhappy circumdtance-are two friends. Adan, who had wanted to stay as far away from the inter-dimensional politics as possible, and Caspar, taking the heat for his brother's choices.
With the help of a jaded, constantly frazzled Reaper, they may be able to keep the Demonic forces at bay. Or they may seal the human race's unfortunate fate.
Hopefully the former.

This is a reboot of the first stories I've written on Wattpad. I've noticed that they weren't the best of quality so here's a proper telling of the story. Melting the Eternal Frost - Book 1
This story depicts an alternate timeline wherein Velzard attends Walpurgis after sensing Veldora's presence. She subsequently meets our protagonist and becomes interested in him after his display at the meeting. After thinking for a bit, she decides to move to Tempest and becomes a close ally of Rimuru. Rimuru and Velzard will sometimes be out of character since it's unavoidable. Our protagonist will be more rational and have an actual spine, while Velzard will not be as cold and ruthless as her canon counterpart. Besides, Velzard lacks substantial characterization, so I decided to write my own interpretation of her personality based on the original light novel. I recommend at least having seen the second season of the anime since my story will pick up from there. This fanfic will follow the main story beats of the original light novel, so some arcs will be glossed over with minor changes. I'm somewhat OC, so expect a lot of chapter edits or updates, as I tend to reread chapters and catch minor mistakes here and there. (Note that this is Book 1 for the full story.)
