Name: Leah Occupation: Artist Residency: NYC Leah's been an artist all her life, from painting her own bedroom mural when she was six to earning awards at New York University. It's been one hell of a ride, after all, when one strives to become the best artist since Pablo Picasso, life's gotta be interesting, gotta have its perks. But one day, when Leah wakes up, something feels different. Like she doesn't get that same thrill from being an artist anymore. She wants something more. And she will paint a canvas the size of the Empire State Building if it means she'll know where she's going to go. She's always been one to go with the flow, especially if that paint is blue.

Emery Cohen loves to paint. Painting is his heart and soul; it is the very reason he exists. He believes all it takes to change the world is to add a splash of color in all the gray places. He quickly learns nothing is so simple. Emery can hardly keep his grades up. His dad is an alcoholic and his mom died when he was young. He's told he likely won't even make it to graduation. But those are only components of the gray world; something that can't consume him as long as he has a paintbrush and some paints. Living life in color means doing what you want, embracing your talents, maybe even falling in love and giving color to those in need of it. But what happens when you give all the color you have to the rest of the world? And what if the only thing that gives you color--your paintbrush--gets lost in the gray world, too? *** Started: 11/21/16 Finished: 6/21/17
