I'm Nyala Garmound. A Nephal. What's that you ask? Simply the result, when a fallen angel lusts a human woman. Now, I'm stuck in a place called Calambria, where there are others like me. Even so, I couldn't feel any more left out and out of place. To make matters worse, after a failed attempt to escape, I ended up stuck with an ignorant bastard. And now? I think I'm falling for him. So what happens when you fall for a fallen? My mother has gone through it, and now I'm about to do the same.

"There were Nephilim in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown..." - Genesis 6:4 The children of angels were all but eradicated in the Great Flood. However, the Fallen were undeterred and mated with human women again after the cataclysm, resulting in the births of giants like the Anakim and Rephaim. One such Anakim happened to be a pure-blooded Nephilim, born to a fallen angel and human woman after the Great Flood. This particular Nephilim spent his life studying the secrets of his forefathers, leading to the discovery of powerful stones that fell from the stars. These stones exponentially increased his longevity and strength... and provided him with the resources to build an empire hidden in the shadows of societies across the world. He gathered to him more descendants of Nephilim, unifying them into a sect of angel-worshippers known as the "Malakhites". His name is Zuriel. He is the First Head. He is the Rosh Rishon. The Falling
Bang! Bang! My tired knees buckle and slam together as I roll down the steep, narrow ramp like thunder as clumsily as a frail old woman. Sweat streams down my hot forehead in trickles of sticky, bitter sweet water. The droplets gather at the beginning of my hairline like an army on the border of enemy territory. This maze of blackened, battered walls is illuminated by the soft multi-coloured glow of the futuristic weaponry we’ve been armed with. It’s been barely twenty minutes since I’ve been thrown into battle like a rabbit into the lion’s den. I’ve managed to trigger, kick and claw my way through like a rabid dog roaming the sober streets. I’m the last of the survivors. I lick my lips in anticipation like a raindeer high on candy canes. My adrenaline runs wild like a boar streaking through the forest. The outline of a tall male with dark hair, dark eyes and tanned skin engenders itself to my gaze. I aim, the slim barrel of the black gun aligns with my focused eye. Author's Note: I appreciate the traction this book gets here and there but fair warning, I wrote this when I was quite young and it's paced poorly just to get my ideas stored in my head onto a digital format. Awakening
This story was previously known as "The Awakening". ~*~ "One... two... three... one... two... three... a million... is that number right?" A figure less voice echoed. "Hello? Who's there?" Caliope asked, focusing on that voice. "One... two... who? A million... a billion... no, it's more... a legion..." Silence. She had seen too many horror movies and heard too many stories about that single word to overpass its meaning. The voice went quiet, yet she was still unable to see where it came from. She rubbed her eyes and all she could see around her was a thick path in a jungle-like scene. She didn't remember how she got there, but she knew it was for something important. Her eyes focused on the far end of the path and all she could see were more trees. She turned to the opposite side and found just the same. "One... two... billions... but always back at one..." the voice resumed it's counting. "Where are you? Who are you?" ~*~ -Her name is Caliope, and when she was a young girl, she never believed in happy endings. For her, there was nothing more than what you see in front of you. All she needed was her best friend Vanessa. Her background is very simple; a foster child with foster parents that were everything but warm and caring. Regardless of that, she became a smart and responsible young woman, ready for whatever came her way. At least that is what she thought. Her new job interview changed her life. It changed everything she ever believed in, and what she thought it was real. Her new boss is an amazing woman who has a son, something different from what he is made out to be. As she discovers the hidden truth about her boss and her son, she has to prepare herself for a whole new world that will unfold to her. ~*~ Intro collaboration with my loyal reader @GabrielleCarden Original Picture from the cover made by Marcus J.
