Based on the manga of the same name
A simple girl from a deserted village of a country that's been deprived of precious water. Kiko had no parents to look after her and was sheltered under the care of her grandmother who was no different from a stranger.
She was of age but their were no suitors. It was a strong superstition that the people belived in. A product of an illicit love affair would only bring misfortune. Girls sneered at her, boys were told to stay away from her.
With no one to turn to and no one to want her, she was alone and useless to the clan.
The time had come. Once in every four hundred years a sacriface had to be made. It had to be a young girl for the Water God.
The elders who ruled had chosen Kiko. Finally her existence was of some use.
However little did the child know of the adventures, the wonders of a different world, the love of a god that awaited her.
