Sam Weir: Nerdy fourteen-year-old kid trying to survive high school. He's constantly getting picked on, and only knows the company of his two friends and his sister.

Rachel Andopolis: Cute Fourteen-year-old girl doing better than any freshmen could dream of. She's on the cheerleading squad, and knows the company of some of the most popular kids in school.

Sam is in love with Rachel.
