My name is Scarlett Moon. But They call me Scarlett, or sometimes just Scar, if I can make out what They are saying. Most of it sounds like moaning. It haunts me. This is the story about my deepest, darkest secret.
I was running. Running away, running far away from Them. You see, They are the world's biggest danger. You can't see them, and yet, you can feel them... you can feel their presence. Their dark, wispy demeanor, Their mysterious coolness when you get near them.
But yet, I am paranormal too, so I could see faint outlines. They were horrible creatures, shaped at gruesome angles, no diligence in an inch of their bones, if they even have bones. They like to chase me, to drive me away from the place I once called home.
But enough about Them. A little about me. I am skinny, but strong. I look normal, dark, almost black hair, normal features. But if you look at me closely, you can see my real presence. My scarlet eyes give it away. I am no longer normal. I am paranormal, but no one knows who I truly am.
You see, I have been what the normals call, "changed". The normal changing is done by Them, where you turn into either a demon or werewolf. My case is different. They changed me differently. I am one with both the underworld and human world. I am one with fire, air, and water. I am the most powerful creature in the underworld, human realm, and the heavens. That's why They want me. Why They chase me. Why everyone will pay generously to have me found, alive or dead. What am I?

It wasn't Maddie's choice to be born a half-breed, half Shifter, half Wolfstalker -- a hunter of Shifters -- and it wasn't her choice to keep her identity a secret. But after trying to attend high school like any normal sixteen-year-old, things quickly spiral south when her Stalker uncle finds out about her and catapults her out of anonymity and into the awareness--or possibly the crosshairs--of The Order of the Wolfstalker. Maddie must think fast and figure out a way to keep herself and her family safe, or risk losing everything. Including her life.
