I lie in pieces on the floor. A hundred different things surround me: shards of a destroyed wooden jewelry box, some cracked CDs, a few ripped books, a shredded picture of Tobias and I. I think my insides must look like they do, all churned up and cracked and unrecognizable.
My lip bleeds, staining my sleeve every time I wipe my mouth. My chest is hollow and empty, as if he ripped out my heart and took it with him when he left, the door slamming so hard the picture frames crashed to the floor.
All I feel is pain, one big wave of it crashing over me again and again, relentless. I ease back on my elbows until I'm lying flat on the ground, staring upward at the shadowy ceiling.
It's nearly dark. How long have I been lying here? The blackness reaches the corners of the room and fills everything. Once that darkness was a cocoon, enveloping us.

Summary: Tobias is devastated when Tris, the love of his life, dies the day the memory serum is released at the bureau. In his grief, he attempts to take the memory serum in order to wipe away his pain, Tris's best friend stops him. Christina helps him to see that Tris would have hated him erasing her from his mind, she told him "The person you became with her is worth being." A year passes as Tobias develops a close friendship with Christina, she then pushes him to move on from his grief, to live his life and just move forward. They begin a romantic relationship. This story will begin as one couple is just beginning and then a true love is discovered to still be alive. The difficulties all face as they move forward. "Are you scared of me?" I break the silence. "Terrified." For a second his dark eyes are on mine, and he's quiet. Then he touches my face and leans in. I can tell he knows that I'm just as nervous as he is. I hate how I become vulnerable when it comes to him. I hate how I easily melt into his grasp and I hate how he must feel my heart being ripped out of my chest with the pace that it's beating at. He grins and presses his lips to mine. Sometimes I wonder if love is worth fighting for, but when I look at him, I know for sure it most definitely is. The thing about love is that you never see it coming.
