I'm a historical romance author, but occasionally I like to dabble in other time periods and settings.
I wrote The Onyx Sun, a 3000 word sci-fi romance for a writing competition.
When the terran space freighter Onyx Sun has a catastrophic engine explosion, communications specialist Alexandra Lovell and engineering chief Pete Conrad battle massive system failures as well as their own unresolved personal feelings.
With three hours to go before their decaying orbit goes terminal, can Alex and Pete repair the communication arrays as well as their relationship?

It has been 40-some years since Captain Nick Reyes and his crew attacked Mars in an attempt to destroy Salen Kotch's reign with the SDF. A young woman by the name of Terra Sloane escapes Earth after the SDF's deadly attack, heading to Mars. There, the supposed Captain Reyes is still alive, through which a secret no one knows. Convincing him to return with her, Terra begins a journey to defeat the high power of the SDF: Colis. His plans to destroy the solar system with the new SDF are more powerful than ever before and it won't be long before the entire solar system is obliterated. With this unexpected journey Terra begins, she learns the truth to more secrets than she thinks possible. Heads up, I did not design this cover. I got it from YouTube on a Sonne meme video by Clay_ This is the first story I've ever written that I've actually intended for other people to read, so expect mistakes. I'm also looking for advice on how to improve this story like a beta reader, if you will. If you have a comment, criticism, or advice for me, please don't hesitate to post it as long as it's constructive. This story was inspired by the Solarballs YouTube channel. It will be different from the show's canon because it is an AU. There will be no ships because I think it's just weird to ship celestial bodies (no hate, just my opinion). All celestial bodies will also be genderless (but feel free to imagine them as whatever gender you want) because they're cosmic beings; why would they have gender? (Again, no hate) This story will focus on the Sun's backstory (with bits concentrating on other characters, namely other stars that helped shape Sun's character) because there is a disappointing lack of Sun-centric fan fiction. There will be both happy and angsty chapters (and a lot of headcannons), so prepare for a wild ride!
