Abandoning her duties, Maria decided to go against orders and protect Vincent Phantomhive from the various threats that were aimed against him. Becoming known as his guardian Angel, she fights the evils and brings forth justice to the wicked but these actions come at a price.
Because she abandoned her duties, to remain in the human world she must consume humans souls which puts her at odds with the grim reapers. But the most important problem of all, is preventing her descent into a fallen angel.
