The story starts off like any other sea-princess tale: girl goes on a diplomatic journey. Girl is a princess. Girl is threatened by pirates.
That's where the similarity ends.
Tessa Gray, crown princess of the Novae Empire, is on a diplomatic mission to the neighboring kingdom of Inferos, to a conference that could stop the brewing war between the two superpowers---or ignite it. And if that wasn't nerve-wracking enough, the one of the most ruthless pirates who's ever sailed the waters of Inferos-Novae seas, has set his sights on the princess...and he's willing to hunt the royal embassy to the ends of the earth to get her, and to kill whoever gets in his way.
And Tessa---well, she'd rather die than become the Magister's tool. The princess dresses as a man to prevent the Magister's men from following her into the unforgiving waes and throws herself over the side, knowing only her death will deter him.
Except she doesn't die. She wakes up in a cove on an island, the sun shining through a hole in the top of the cave, lying on the sands.
And sitting by her side are two men---boys, really, but they're far from human.
They're mer---but they aren't.
They're Nereids, the race of the sea, the people of the arts...and of the war. But slowly, Tessa finds herself drawn to the Nereids, to the strange seafolk and their beautiful world---but just when things seem to settle into some form of "normal", they discover that not only has war sparked between Novae and Inferos, but that the Magister has begun to wage war on the sea.
Things just got a whole lot more complicated for the princess and the Nereids who saved her.

This story begins in the country of Britannia. A country where several certain races live with one another. And at the center of these races stood a girl. A beautiful girl with wild molten hair and eyes that reflected the universe. She was the creation of love and the child of wilderness. She was someone full of wisdom, wisdom she had gathered from centuries of experience. Many don't know how she was born, some saying that she was the daughter of the blazing sun while others say that she was born from ashes during an alluring eclipse. The name they called her? Malaika Kya. Angel from the diamond sky. For eons she wandered, visiting many kingdoms and gaining many friends. She battled battles that many would have died from, protecting those she holds dear. Slowly, her family began to grow. Person by person, home by home, kingdom by kingdom. Her heart spreading the biggest of wings. But then it happened. The one she loved most was attacked, almost dying because of someone's idiocy. And so she fought. She fought for her dying family, soon gaining the powers of the internal flame buried deep inside her. Screeching her painful cry, she fought in her new form with all her might. But it wasn't enough as it's hand sprouted from her body. Tears fell from the eyes of her lover, his eyes wide as he watched her body wither in pain. Hey dark eye were gentle a she watched his physical pain disappear, his wounds sealed shut as he snatched her closer one more time. Softly she apologized, saying words she wanted so badly to say before sealing their goodbye with a kiss. After one last smile, she disappeared into the fire below, her body dissipating into the molten flames as her words echoed into the soundless wind. "Mind telling me about that promise again?"

Whoever Fiáin was born to be died along with her twin brother. She died when a strange white wolf came into their territory and murdered her brother in front of her. All her life, Fiáin had lived with the guilt of having hidden rather than trying to defend her twin, and it didn't matter to her that she had only been a cub herself, or that the effort would've been futile. In her eyes, her brother's loss was her fault. But just as painful as that guilt was the fear that accompanied it; a fear so relentless that she'd never taken her place in her pack, and had settled into a position only one rung above omega. But her family think she's failing to step up, and her father believes that if he just pushes her hard enough, her inner wolf will push back. Cróga, on the other hand, had always known his place. He'd grieved for his younger brother too, but as his father's heir and the subject of an elven oracle's dire prophecy, he couldn't let fear hold him back. Whatever dreams or desires he might have had didn't matter, because one day he would be an alpha male, and a commander of both the Tírgarda and a naval fleet, duty-bound to guard the coast of Tírlaochra from invading forces. His own guilt weighed heavily on him too, because the oracle had forewarned that he could only take his place once his father lost his life, and Cróga wasn't ready to face that loss, or to face his own self-doubt. When the white wolf reappears, Fiáin isn't prepared for her father's decision to send her away, to be the mate of a wolf she barely knows. She's even less prepared for a journey in the company of Styrkr, a male from across the sea who wants to travel Tírlaochra before taking more responsibility in his own pack. None of that matters for long, though, because when the black ships appear from the fog that blankets the sea, war returns to a land that's known peace for centuries, and both Fiáin and Cróga will need to find their places, for the good of everyone.

Twelve-hundred years ago, the first king of Sacreon led a rebellion against an empire of witches. The war for who would rule next continues to this day. A false guise of peace came over Ert after two genocides, but there is no one so foolish as to claim the fighting is done. A prophecy claims that war will return to Ert when the moons are full once again on Ascenday. That day is growing closer now, and there is not a fool in the warring nations who does not dread its coming. In the midst of this all, the heirs to Sacreon struggle to find their place in this world of kings and knights and gods and elves and witches. A princess falls for someone she cannot hope to have, prince travels south to broker an alliance, a warrior seeks vengeance for the death of her sister. and the heir to a long forgotten kingdom quests for glory. Behind all of this, one man journeys north to an island of long forgotten magic with plans of justice, and The Wolf Witch goes west, searching for the one who can stop this war and unite Ert once again: The Silver Girl. Note: The Wolf Witch is meant to be a prequel to this book, and Sora will make an appearance, but she will not be a main character. By the way I take huge inspiration and influence from A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones so if you like that you'll probably like this (and my other writings I hope).
