[Side note: I'm writing this as a 4th Hunger Games book so it will continue on from Mockingjay (leaving out the epilogue) so, yes, this book will give away the events in Mockingjay. So don't read if you don't want spoilers.]

Katniss survived yet another Hunger Games. Well the third was a bit different. The Capitol turned into what seemed to be another arena. She lost her sister, her friendship with Gale and many other people she cared the most for. Her face, her role as the Mockingjay and her hatred for the Capitol  all helped the rebellion win the revolution. 
But though everything may seem like it's safe and regaining morality Katniss can't help but notice there's something wrong. She knows that they can't be safe forever... as the saying goes 'Old habits are hard to break'.All Rights Reserved

We know her story. But have you ever wondered what it was like on the home front, in District 12? This story is Gale's, his outlook on the games, his feelings about his best friend's situation, and his interactions with the people of District 12. The story is set during the time period of "The Hunger Games" (book one of the trilogy). It is written from the perspective of Gale Hawthorne, and does not concern any events in books two and three. This is my first fan fiction, my first "real" attempt at long form prose writing, and my first Wattpad story. I appreciate constructive feedback, but please, no hate. While the characters and some plot points are based off of Suzanne Collins's Hunger Games Trilogy, (which I in no way own the rights to) I have created this story using my own imagination. Very dear to the Capitol, they are devastated to see her going back into the games. - As the mentor explained, all three of them watched the footage of the girl looking directly into the camera, her delicate eyes shinning confidently as she displayed a smile. - What's her strategy? - Peeta asked, interested in knowing more about the girl who didn't look like much of threat from the outside, but probably shouldn't be underestimated according to Haymitch's description. - Despite being likeable? - Haymitch said sarcastically. - Well, surprisingly, she's very skilled at hand to hand combat. - Ok, that's easy, I can just take her out from afar with the bow then. - Katniss dismissed the problem, visibly relieved of knowing how to defeat at least one of the many strong opponents she would be going up against. - See, that's where you're wrong. - Haymitch casually cut off her suggestion, moving closer to sit on top of the coffee table and staring his two tributes in the eye. - You're not gonna fight her, you're gonna ally with her.
