The shadowy figure ducked behind a tall patch of bushes. It seemed to be hiding from me. "Come out," I said softly. The tree's leaves rustled. "I cannot," I hear the shadow figure whisper. "You do not have to be afraid. Come out," I say, trying to peek around the tree. "Then you will be afraid."
