[between The Last Olympian and The Lost Hero]
"Demigods and technology don't mix. Phone calls, texting, even browsing the internet - why, just this autumn at a school in Cincinnati, we had to rescue a young hero who googled the Gorgons and got a little more than he bargained for."
While a lot of his peers missed a mother figure, Carter Hyde was completely content with his two fathers. Unfortunately, he does have a mother, and after an unfortunate event with an old computer, snake ladies and a talking octopus, it seems she wants to interfere.
Despite discovering his mother is a true Olympian goddess, he doesn't really want to be bothered by her- especially not after being dropped into some sort of stupid summer camp- until another immortal entity approaches him with a quest only he can fulfil: find Eros's bow. For this quest he'll need his mother's powers, but also the help of Connor Stoll and Riley Boyer.
Throw in a crazy water nymph with a talking octopus, a strange new prophecy, a dangerously attractive Apollo boy and the disappearance of the camp's greatest hero, and you get the chaos all demigods both curse and crave.
And whether he likes it or not, Carter Hyde is now a demigod, and a puppet of the gods, who is running out of time to escape the bane of love.
