I can see his figure in the distant streetlight. His hair looks like it's on fire in the dim haze. My foot is killing me, but I walk a little faster, he finally sees me. Grace Reid wishes she had a white picket fence life. Boring is safe, and her life is anything but boring. Because of her father, she has more to deal with than the average fifteen year old. Her best friend Jack is the person who keeps her sane through the mess, but when they are threatened to be separated by a sudden twist of events, she fears she might fall apart without him.
