Slowly, Blade rose to his feet and held his hands up. The man stepped closer and grabbed his arm. Blade looked down at the hand that held him. The skin was rough and appeared to be cracked into dark, solid flakes. The fingers were bony and narrow with long, curved nails. Blade looked up into the man's face. As he shifted, Blade saw a pair of bright green eyes set into a face that was definitely not human. The creature was bald with scaly skin and two slits for a nose. It began dragging him back through the forest.
"What are you? What do you want with me?" Blade demanded.
"Back home," the creature answered. "No escape this time."

All of a sudden, I felt myself hurtling through the air. I let out a scream when my head made sickeningly painful contact with the slimy ground beneath me. That’s when he caught up with me. That’s when he dragged me to my feet, only eyes visible beneath his black mask. That’s when he whispered, ‘Keep still, and you won’t get hurt.’ Stupidly and feebly, I thrashed in his grip. And that’s when I caught a glimpse of the wet blade that glistened with rain drops, before he pressed it against my throat. Cliche, with a twist. Once again I was wrong He walked back and forth in the shadows,the darkness obscuring him to the point of a silhouette. But as he went I noticed his form change and blur, sometimes resembling that of a child before shifting into something much bigger and hairier then morphing back again. "Oh Fin haven't you realized it yet" the voice asked mockingly, "us deities and gods alike have been watching you closely, seeing how you stack up against what this world has to offer" I heard a laugh "and frankly I have to say, I'm not impressed". He let a sliver of his face be shown in the firelight I had been so wrong "Tell me who you are" I ask, although the answer couldn't have been clearer. Once again he laughed, a strange and horrifying mix between that of a child and a beasts. "Who's out there?" One of the men yelled. Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again. "Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered. The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again. They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with. "Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear. I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out. I guess in a way I was going to do that. "Go back a few feet." My friend whispered. I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited. "Where is she?" I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question. They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness. I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was. A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move." How paranoia can cloud the mind. At nine years old, Silver decided to leave her village for the forest. Since then, she's been hunted; everyday is a fight for her life, every breath she takes could be her last, but she's determined to stay alive.
