At the end of the world, Thea Monroe searches New Orleans for smuggler ship and meets the mysterious Captain Sebastian Bane, a teenage pirate with a million dollar vessel that no one knows how it came to be in his possession.
Sebastian Bane won't take women on his ship, no exceptions. Out of ideas, Thea posses as a boy and sneaks aboard, hoping that she can keep up the charade long enough to get to Cuba. She's soon discovered by Bane, but before he can throw her off, her immunity is revealed and he has no choice but to get her to Cuba to her uncle.
When people learn of Thea's immunity it quickly becomes a manhunt as the Baneblood races towards Cuba. Thea and Bane start to connect, but as they get closer and closer to Cuba, she starts to wonder if he cares about her or only wants to sell her off to the highest bidder.

She said it was an imbalance to the natural order but he in turn nearly killed her..Tia Dorma nursed her back to health when she found Jessica washed up on the shores of her island. Her entire crew had been killed and she was left barely alive. So Tia Dorma decided to held her in exchange for her beating heart. Jessica didn't understand at the time, and claimed she had no use for it so she could happily take it. Everyone she ever cared about was dead anyways so what did she need it for? However, Tia said there was much about a human heart that she had yet to lean and she would only give the heart back once it heals and Jessica could "properly utilize it" whatever the hell that meant..
