True Beauty lies Beneath the Skin (Phan)

A punk AU in which Phil Lester is lead guitar player in the British pop-punk band Runaway Exorcist, being swooned over by teenage emo girls around the globe daily. Phil is openly bisexual and when he isn't touring and performing, he's home in London, often with his longtime friend Iesha, who is also the manager of the band. The band continues to gain more fame day by day, and Phil couldn't be happier with his position in life. But then again, there are many gaps that Phil finds missing in his life, and his yearning to fill that gap only grows with each passing day that they remain empty...

Meanwhile, Dan Howell is a tattoo artist and body piercer at Zombified Tattoos and Piercings, a popular shop in London. New to the tattoo scene, Dan proves himself to be extremely talented and quickly gains popularity. This is especially good for Dan as he's spent the last few years completely broke and still living with his parents. With enough money, he's finally able to move out into a tiny, two bedroom apartment located conveniently above the tattoo shop he's working in, finally able to put food on the table and provide.

However, Dan has a bit of a secret. Well, it's not really a "secret" per-se, but it isn't something he tells just anyone either. When a post-tour Phil Lester walks into Zombified looking for some new ink, he and Dan make fast friends with each other (after a pretty terrible first encounter previously) and they find themselves able to trust one another, and letting each other in.

When Dan discovers he and Phil can relate to each other on a more deeper and personal level and that Phil is willing to work with and be happy with Dan in his circumstances, Dan discovers that letting people in might not be such a bad idea after all, and Phil discovers that Dan and his "secret" might be just what Phil needs to fill the missing pieces in his life.
