Subject 01A: The genesis of a new breed by L0velybae
7 parts Ongoing Mature
The war had ended. Nations rose from ash, but the scars ran deep through the soil, the air, and the blood. The strong had grown weary. The weak had multiplied. The human body, once the symbol of endurance, had lost the title of "the indomitable human spirit." Minds broke more easily. Soldiers fell faster. And beneath the looming shadow of the Cold War, that weakness became unacceptable. A sickness they called weakness spread, some said it was in the water, others blamed the Americans, the air, even fate itself. One truth remained: the human body was no longer enough to survive. Many refused to accept it. They would sooner go extinct than admit they were no longer the "superior beings" they once believed themselves to be. But one man could not accept it. In a forgotten corner of Moscow, behind layers of concrete, a vision was born not from hope, but desperation. The Americans had weapons the world had never seen; nuclear arsenals that could erase cities in a single breath. The Soviets could not afford to fall behind. If they could not win through machines and missiles, they would win through biology. Even if it meant tearing families apart. Even if it meant rewriting what it meant to be human. Their goal was simple: to create a new generation, stronger, faster, immune to the limitations of the ordinary human body. Children would become soldiers before they could even walk. Minds and bodies sharpened for war. A new world would rise from the ashes of the old, an unbroken nation, one where no foreign foot would dare step. For a moment, all hope was lost. That was until Subject 01A. - ? ? ? "Is it wrong to want to live?" ? ? ? "It's WRONG to torture people for a stupid fantasy!" ? ? ?"Fantasy? Subject 01A doesn't look like a fantasy now, does he?" He was her rock, her best friend, her first love. He became her worst nightmare, her tormentor, her captor She was his everything. His obsession. Their story should have ended with that court case, but he's found a way back to her, and he won't give her another opportunity to escape. Not this time. ------------------------------------------- Shivering, I sobbed out, unable to speak, unable to move. "Shh, shh, now baby-girl, it's alright, you're safe, don't cry" he soothed, moving closer to me. "N-Noah, I w-want to go home," I sobbed, feeling weak from my inability to talk without stuttering. A gasp left my parted lips as his hand forcefully connected with my cheek, "You are home, so I don't want to hear that crap from you, okay?" shaking, I looked down at my feet, his gaze too menacing to hold. "I said, do you understand" he spit through clenched teeth, "y-yes, I'm sorry" I whispered, a new wave of tears making their appearance. "Good girl, now I need you to keep being a good girl, okay?" nodding, my eyes met his dark ones. His form towered over me, making me feel small and irrelevant. "Words, Embry!" He demanded as I stuttered out a quiet yes. I studied him cautiously as he walked towards the far end of the room, shuffling through drawers before stalking back towards me and crouching down. I sucked in a breath as I saw the knife in his hand, his face held a mischievous grin as it glinted in the light. "Now baby-girl, you see, as much as I hate to, you need to be punished, do you know why?" Warning! This story is for mature audience, it contains strong language, abuse, mature themes and sensitive topics. Please enjoy, -Aphrodite.

Captive Hearts by CocoNova63

What began as a territorial conflict spiraled into a years-long war-fought across shattered cities, burning forests, and broken families. Loyalties were tested. Lines blurred. Heroes rose in silence, not for recognition, but because someone had to. And in the middle of it all... a soldier and a prisoner. This is not the story of kings and queens. This is the story of two people caught on opposite sides of a war. In a world torn apart by war, Lysana Laurent is little more than a pawn. The daughter of a powerful rebel general, she has spent her life in the shadow of battles she never fought-until the war crashes through her doorstep. Kidnapped from her quiet village, Lysana awakens in a cold, dark cell, bound and helpless, with only the scent of blood and decay to remind her of the horrors that brought her here. Her captor is a soldier with a ruthless reputation, sharp wit, and a smirk that spells danger. A man known for his cruelty. A man who serves under General Kael, the very enemy her father has spent years fighting. Lysana is terrified. She knows what happens to prisoners of war, and Ryder's taunts only fuel the fear curling in her stomach. Her father will not come for her. No one will. Lysana must survive on her own, trapped in the hands of a man who seems to thrive on fear, a man who holds her fate in his hands with an infuriating smirk. As hope dwindles, she is forced to find hope from unexpected sources... or break in the process.

I asked steadily. "I wouldn't die for her because I wouldn't be able to protect her any more. What if I missed one of the people who hurt her? I couldn't take that risk. She's too important." * * * * * * * * * * Now an Amazon Top 100 Bestseller, Nightmares of Caitlin Lockyer is available from Amazon, B&N, Apple, Diesel, Kobo and Smashwords.
