Over the Wall: A Collection of Short Stories (NaNoWriMo 2014)
This year for NaNoWriMo, I am writing a short story anthology. It will feature thirty or so short stories (my hope is to write one per day to fulfill my 1,667 per day word requirement) about varying things. Each morning, I will randomly select a number between one and thirty and I will look at the corresponding list of first lines I will have. I will take that line and write a short story using it and then the next day I will do the process over again (some stories might relate to each other, some might not). Anyway I will edit the story for that day and post it here. It may not be posted exactly on the corresponding day, but in the end there will be thirty short stories. P.S. Although these are somewhat edited they are still rough drafts so please treat them as such.Complete
The Hybrid Alpha
Running. Escaping. Surviving. My life has always been a chase. And now? The hunter has finally caught up. After years on the run, everything changed the moment I met him...the one they all feared. The Hybrid Alpha. I was done running. Exhausted from hiding from my past. So I stopped. I surrendered. But surrender came with a price... separation from my twin, Alpha Kane and a forced bond with a mate I never asked for. Taken to a strange pack, trapped by fate and boredom, my only distraction becomes the one male I swore I wouldn't fall for. Xavious. He's distant. Dangerous. A mystery wrapped in muscle and power. Before I could heave a breath he somehow managed to pull me under him. I gasp at his fast movement amazed by his powers yet again. He trails his fingers down my shoulders to my curved hips as I place my palms on his hard yet smooth chest. Instantly his eyes close as if savouring the moment as does mine. "I could've taken you whenever I would've pleased but I didn't" He says in a husky voice. "Prove it." A steamy, supernatural game of cat-and-mouse between reluctant mates. I went to go around them when a blond kid tried to grab my hood. I grabbed his wrist twisted it and pushed him to the floor. Then a dark hair guy growled and tried to tackle me. I rolled off his back making him crash into his buddy. Suddenly I felt a slight breeze cross my ears. I turned around to see that the two were looking at me like they saw a ghost. What's the worse thing about living in a society filled with werewolves? Being a hybrid that isn't accepted. Alessa lived her entire life in the shadows of her mother's pack as a rogue. The only person who she believes that loves her is her mother and her childhood best friend. Now there is a new guy in town and has caught all the girls' eyes but has captured Alessa's heart. Love at first sight, the new guy Jase is in fact her mate but he rejects her...not being able to cope with the fact her mate doesn't want her she flees into the forbidden forest where she meets a gorgeous wounded man named Damien...but Damien isn't a werewolf and accepts Alessa for who she is. Later she finds that this strange man is her mate as well!! Was does this mean if Damien isn't a werewolf? Drama unfolds when Alessa has to deal with the acknowledge that she has two mates but one mate has rejected her....for being half vampire, half werewolf...or that's the reason she believes he has rejected her... If it wasn't bad enough a fortune teller visits her in her dream state to warn her. 1. She cannot be in water under a new moon 2. She cannot stand under the full moon's beam 3. An NEVER EVER drink the blood of a crow What could these warnings mean? Is she some kind of Grimlin?! Not so much...Complete
Wolfless, Mateless, Voiceless
Harmony Maddison, the average werewolf 15 year old going onto 16, at this time she is supposed to shift, but didn't. Her pack- her family become bullies and she feels like she's been degraded to the omega, until one day, a small group of 3 new were wolfs show up at her school to whisk her away to a happier place, or so they thought. A murderous pack trespassed onto their land and took one after another down, soon enough, Harmony was surrounded by blood of her friends, lifeless bodies surrounded her. She was kept alive but not for pleasant reasons as the alpha of the murderous pack, Alpha Dominic decided to keep her as a punching bag for his anger. She becomes malnourished, weak and mute. After about 2 and a half years of dealing with this Alpha Dominic someone whisks her away again as her second mate as she was rejected before. They have their ups and downs but nothing is compared to what they have in stored, the new roller coaster they must ride to have a happily ever after, if you can call it that. I know the book starts slow, that's how I wanted it to be, to build to the exciting parts. It may be a drag, I know but it'll be worth it when the book speeds up with the roller coaster that Harmony has to ride, so to speak. Give it time and it'll spike your interest.
