Heyra is the princess of Aurora, a world where mortals and magic coincide and the land, for the most part, hasn't met war for centuries. But her older brother and the King of Aurora Loganus rules with an iron fist, decrees that all must obey his rule or they will die. Heyra tries to convince her brother to change his ways but when Loganus oversteps the line, she realises that a revolution needs to happen and a new monarch must ascend to the throne. Teymia is a common pauper living in the slums of Aurora's capital city, Okastia, she hates the life she lives but learns to deal with it. She has no friends solely because of the fact she closes everyone out from her life. She hates only one thing more than she hates the life she lives, royals, because of the fact they look down upon the citizens of Aurora and don't do anything to change their suffering, and when a rebellion begins to form she is one of the first to join. These two girls have nothing in common except the fact that when they first meet they despise each other, but they constantly find themselves being pulled to one another. Although they claim they hate each other, they begin to find that they feel something towards one another. In a world with an uprising revolution and dangers around every corner, can these two survive long enough to overthrow Loganus and change the fate of Aurora for the better?

Ice flooded my veins as the realization of who he was hit me. It must have been evident on my face because the man in front of me let out a dark laugh. "Oh dear, you didn't realize you were talking to a royal, did you darling?" he crooned. Not just any royal. Kesserian Cinis. The recently coronated king and ruler over the Ember Court. I forgot how to breathe, my mind whirring as it tried to figure out how I could have been so stupid as to let this happen. *************************************************** Wren Heatherfield is on the run. Having turned 18, she is now in danger of becoming selected for the Garner, a deadly game in which the six kings who rule over her continent take eighteen non-magical girls and make them fight for their lives. But as she tries to avoid the game by running away with her best friend and her sister, she consequently finds herself doomed to be a competitor in the 246th Garner. But the Garner isn't the only thing capable of killing her. In a castle surrounded by kings with dark powers and girls fighting for their lives, she may find that the politics of royalty can be just as deadly as their games. No one can be trusted in a palace full of monsters and, if Wren has any hopes of survival, she may have to become one herself.
