Gee Way is an androgynous, junior in highschool. Life for him is as average as it gets. But, oh, how above average it gets when rebel Frank Iero starts going to school. He's everything Gee isn't. He smokes pot, ditches class, drinks illegally. Nothing Gee would even think of doing. Frank hasn't even been attending school for more than a day and Gee is already head over heels for the punk. And though Frank flirts with Gee all the time, it's almost like he would rather be with anyone else. Frank fools around with boys and girls alike, making Gee feel even more lost. But it only gets worse as opportunities open up for Gee, and life comes down on Frank.

Highschool is a living hell. At least that's Gerard's opinion because he can't pass the hallways without being shoved against lockers or called a "fag". God, how Gerard hated this word. In his last year of school, he decides to take a risk and starts a school project in which he wants to find out why all of his teachers and classmates hate homosexual people so much. Gerard way and Frank Iero have always passed each other in the hallway but never spoke a word to one another. They are both alike in many ways. Both loners who feel like they don't quite belong. But, their differences don't keep them apart considering these strangers are forced into each other's lives when Gerard finds Frank attempting to commit suicide. Frank is a hopelessly short, hopelessly desperate, and just generally hopeless highschooler, whose only friend is the amazingly tall kid with the 'fro: Ray Toro.
