Start timer. I ran downstairs with my sneakers already on my feet, leaving footprints of dirt on the carpet. Not realizing at the time how crucial this seemingly small mistake was. I grabbed a jacket off the hook beside the door and ran outside. The air was frigid. I pulled the ripped piece of paper from my fraying and dirty jeans pocket and read "go three blocks left." I shoved it back into my pocket and broke into a sprint...

For now, I sit with my heart in pain, Silent, yet screaming, again and again. Though shattered, a spark in me still survives, Dreaming of freedom where my soul can rise.
