Camille, known to friends as Cami, is new at McNair High (MH). She has a history of breaking boys hearts, leading them on and then breaking them down. Her two best friends are Jasper and Erin, the only people she can really trust completely.
When she gets there, right away she is warned by everyone to stay away from the school's resident "player/bad boy". But she doesn't heed anyone's warnings. She sees him as a challenge, a challenge she decided to accept.

Derek is McNair High's resident player/ bad boy. He takes girls, plays with their hearts, uses them, and dumps them, leaving a trail of broken hearts in his path. Every girl wants to be the one to change him, and Allie, the school's resident slut, believes she's close but doesn't know how wrong she is. When he sees the cute new girl, he sees something different, a challenge. One he's willing to accept.

When these two collide, there's an instant attraction. They notice that the other is going to be difficult to play with. There's a challenge, a game.

So who will win? Who will be left broken and who will walk away unaffected?

"That's not something you mess around with." I say to her and she just rolled her eyes. "It's not like he's going to fall for it anyway." She looked at her baby pink nails. "Then why do you-" "Because," She snapped looking away from her nails to me. "He needs to know how it feels to fall in love and then have your heart ripped out of your chest and just feel like you're dying inside." She clenched her fingers into a fist. "Plus you don't believe in love anyway so it should be a piece of cake to keep your end unattached." "Yeah whatever." Monica Roth wasn't exactly the new girl but she wasn't exactly popular either. Her best friend Destiny Hamilton was a cheerleader but wasn't exactly in on the it crowd. They both seemed to keep to each other until one day the head cheerleader Madison Valentine comes up to Monica asking her a favor. A favor to play a game with the school's newest hottie. Derek Reid. Derek used to believe in love, it's what he lived and breathe for. Until he watched his mother become a slut because of it. The one thing he thought was so beautiful and the cure all to mans problems no longer exist. He became cold and heartless to anyone who didn't deem themselves worthy in his eyes. He played games with girls hearts, cause them to fall in love and literally break their hearts when he doesn't return the affection. He's just that type of guy. What makes Monica stand out from anyone else was the fact she's never been in love. She didn't believe in it, her parents never fell in love. She lives with her mom during the week and her father every now and then. It just something she's never witnessed so she didn't believe in it, to her it was just a myth. So when she gets asked to play the game of love with Derek she literally can't say no.

"So this was all just a game to you . . .this whole time, you pretended to like me in order to humiliate me in front of the entire school?" An air of melancholia surrounded me, eyes watery like never before. "Were your feelings for me ever real?" There wasn't even a trace of an apologetic expression on his features as he tucked his hands in his pockets, before he gave a nonchalant shrug. The sudden urge for revenge became a prominent priority. He regarded me passively. "It's not my fault that you fell for me in the first place." he justified as he advanced my way, closing the gap between us. Unstably, I strode backwards on the concrete. ". . .stay back." I whimpered. "You're nothing but cold hearted." ·•● Two years ago, Emery Roy was tragically exposed to what some could call an intense betrayal all thanks to the originator - Dean Darnell.
