Red Queen Fan Fic I scream and when I hit the ground, I get dizzy and see everything doubled. I here a muffled voice. My father. Something....you okay....hurt....can you hear me...? I put the butt of my hands on my head trying to refocus my vision. When I do I look up. And in that very moment I look up, I hear a crack. Not a small one; a deafening one. More wood is going to fall. On me. I don't have time or space to run or move out the way. It starts to fall and as soon as I put my hands over my head to shield myself, I feel it. Not the wood, but the electric shock. The one with no pain, pure energy. Only this time, it consumes me. All of me. My eyes are closed but I see purple. Ultraviolet purple. I feel like I put all the energy I've had in my life in this one moment. Then as soon as it came, it goes. When nothing happens, my hands still over my head, I find the courage to look up and around me. And what I see is not what I expect.

The feeling of Vienna Retnikopf's shoes slamming down against the concrete roof distracted her more than she thought it would. The pain of it caught her attention with every step. She was running for her life, towards a man she had never met before, and all she could think about was the fact that her shoes' soles were too thin to be running like that. Vienna tried to keep her eyes up as the roof door slammed open. Tried to keep her eyes on the red hair being blown by the wind in front of her. If she stayed with Natalia she would be safe. Nat had promised. No more lying and sneaking around. This was the last push. The last push to freedom. They were leaving the Red Room for good. And then she tripped.
