Marion, Virginia is a small town in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. It's a town that would be considered rural by most, but it's thriving main street community, art shops, fine dining, and outdoor recreation opportunities keep tourists coming back for more. It's people are proud of their Appalachian and Southern heritage, and are what you hear referred to as "salt of the earth" people.

What happens to a small town and it's people when they lose all electricity, communications, and news from the rest of the world? Do they also lose their morals and compassion for one another? Or do they find the strength and fortitude to carry on with a sense of normality? Now take those same people, and let them find out they are now living in occupied territory behind enemy lines. Do they still exhibit those same traits they have been known for?

Appalachian Independence is the story of how one small town in rural America handled the trials and tribulations of the great war that started in 2015. It's a story of survival and of courage. A story of family and sacrifice. And it's a story of the American spirit.
