Celeste Gerard can't remember a life outside of foster care. Thrown into care like soiled goods at the tender age of 12 she's lost all sense of family and love. Her only hope is to go home. Home to the family she lost. But home isn't what her mind has made it into.

Home has become nothing short of a fantasy and the reality is much more painful.

Home doesn't include the blameless perfect mother she thinks it does. It doesn't include a loving father. All of the things she's desperately held onto, friends, family, aren't what they seem.

That perfect dream is an illusion and Celeste isn't prepared to face reality.

A reality that's ugly. A reality that's cruel. One that will test the limits of her strength and the very calibre of women she is.

Everything is about to be taken from her and with nothing to fight for where does an already broken find the will to live?

Celeste had thought she'd seen the worst the world had to offer until hell came knocking at her door.

No one ever said life would be easy and Celeste is about to discover just how hot hell burns and how much fight it really takes to come out alive.

𝐴𝑁 𝐸𝑀𝑃𝑌𝑅𝐸𝐴𝑁 𝐹𝐴𝑁𝐹𝐼𝐶𝑇𝐼𝑂𝑁 | 𝑋𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑛 𝑅𝑖𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝘅 𝑂𝐶 | 𝑭𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒕𝒉 𝑾𝒊𝒏𝒈 & 𝑰𝒓𝒐𝒏 𝑭𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒆 ‼𝑆𝑃𝑂𝐼𝐿𝐸𝑅𝑆‼ Lila Morgan didn't expect to wake up after she jumped. And she definitely didn't expect to wake up in the world of Fourth Wing-the book that once kept her going through the darkest nights. But this isn't a dream. It's not fiction. And survival here demands more than knowledge of what's "supposed" to happen. Now living under the name Liora Emberveil, she tells herself this is a second chance. A chance to become someone stronger. Better. Someone worth something. She throws herself into the role of a fictional heroine; confident, brave, untouchable. But no matter how fast she runs, she can't outrun herself. Because the truth is: Lila didn't come here healed. She came here broken. She's anxious, self-destructive, and still carrying the weight of a life she didn't want to live. And the more she tries to control the story, the more it spirals. Every decision rewrites the future she thought she knew. Every connection threatens the mask she's carefully built. And when she catches the attention of Xaden Riorson-a man who sees too much-her carefully drawn lines begin to blur. If you're not who you were, and you're not who you pretend to be... then who are you? ⭐︎★If you enjoy this story on Wattpad but want options, it's also available on AO3! This story is based on historical facts and author's imagination. Do not mistake the facts as reality. Enjoy! Genre & Tone: Dark, emotional, and introspective but with glimpses of hope. It leans toward a slow-burning coming-of-age story with fantasy/adventure elements. The kid's journey has weight-he's not just adventuring, he's surviving, learning, and finding identity. The tone balances tension, subtle sadness, and moments of warmth. Theme: Identity, survival, and legacy. It's about someone growing up without a clear place in the world ("No Nation"), navigating trauma, and slowly discovering purpose. At its core, it's a story of resilience and self-discovery. Plot Style: Episodic, with character-focused arcs. The story builds gradually-the ending scene where he tells a story to younger kids and finally reveals his name as Isaac is symbolic. It's about him claiming his own identity and leaving a mark on others, showing how he's grown from an anonymous, possibly lonely child into someone who inspires or connects with others. Characterization: Isaac is complex-he has a vulnerable, "lost" side, but also a curious, clever, and ultimately bright/bubbly side that occasionally peeks through. His personality develops through interactions with the world, and the story slowly reveals his internal growth. Atmosphere: Think bittersweet and mysterious, sometimes tense or lonely, with soft moments of light and warmth to contrast the darkness. The ending is cathartic-a subtle but satisfying reveal of who he truly is.

This is the story of an abused teenage girl, Maddie. Her need to die has become overwhelming and she is trying to find a way to help herself before she does something she may regret. The story is told from her point of view as she recalls all that has happened to her. Maybe telling her story will help her, maybe not. This isn't just any other sob story. This is more realistic. You may even find yourself comparing your life to Maddie's while reading this story. Disclosure: I wrote this as a 13-year-old and the writing is definitely not up to my current standards, but I feel as though changing what I have already written would take away from the emotion I put into this story at 13 years old. If you'd like an updated and more well-written version, please read my other story entitled "Remembering". TW/CW: domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation
