The Kingdom of Hilia is nothing without the four elements. Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. The four elements created a world what we call Hilia. Four different Kingdoms side by side, in peace and harmony. Well, until the darkness came... The darkness took everything. Destroyed all four kingdoms, villages, homes, and families. People that were once friends, were now enemies. The elements were no match to the darkness.
The people of Hilia needed a hero.
And they got one. With a price.
A hero made out of pure light. Destroying everything that the darkness created, one by one. Sealing it away forever. That's how it is supposed to end right? Well yeah, but people forgot the one little thing. The price. For sealing the darkness away and keeping it that way, the elements had to give up their full power, giving it to seven children across Hilia. Even with that price, it was still not enough to keep the darkness back. One of the chosen children betrayed their own, allowing the darkness to come back into the world. And this time, there wasn't a hero. The elements and the chosen children were on their own. Luckily they manage to push the darkness back, to the outskirts of Hilia As the years go by, the darkness gets stronger and stronger. And one day....
Blah, blah, blah.
The legend's of Hilia, where everyone made mistakes. The past is the past, what is done is done. Let's move on to the present day, where my story begins. Years have passed by, rules have been created to protect Hilia and now there are trials for the chosen children. And I happened to be right in the middle of it. My name is Allison Testborn, and I am one of the chosen children.

I couldn't take my eyes off of Dean as he stared at the glimmering stars in the night sky. "I believe the story of our lives is already written in the stars. Our destiny is already given to us. The end of our lives will always end the same, no matter what we try to do to change it."
I watched a strand of his blond hair fall over his ear. "What does that mean?"
"It means that if you are the person who is destined to take the two parts of this country and bring them together, then it will happen one way or another." His heterochromia eyes found mine and I found myself entranced by them. "And Mel, by the looks of things right now, I'd say your story has started and you are already working towards your destiny."

One country. Two nations.
After the country split in two, the nations renamed themselves the Ameliorates and the Extricates.
The Ameliorates live in a community full of stability and order.
Melody Sharpe is the daughter of the Ameliorates' leaders.
All her life she was told that the Extricates lived in a place full of chaos and destruction. What happens when she finds herself questioning everything she had once been taught?
What does she do when she meets Dean Martin--the son of the Extricate leaders--who tells her that everything she knows is a lie?
Why did the Extricates really split away from the Ameliorates?
Why do the Extricates fear the Ameliorates more than anything else?
Are the Extricates really the "bad" side?
Melody starts asking questions--something she isn't supposed to do--and it might just lead her into the middle of a war.
