Mae Konigin has gone her whole life being told she is crazy. But that doesn't explain why she knows things she shouldn't. It doesn't explain how shadows whisper warnings to her, and how she sees a black smoke following around people who seem to turn up dead soon after.
When Mae is kidnapped one day she finds that she isn't as crazy as she thinks, and she meets a group of girls that call themselves "Deaths Daughters." She finds in them a family stronger than she ever has, but things soon turn bitter-sweet when her new family starts turning up dead, and Mae finds that she might be the only one who can stop the body count from piling up.
