Maria Smith is your average high school junior until she meets a new guy in town. Kyle Valler is seemingly perfect- tall, dark, handsome and mysterious. As Maria begins her rebellious stage she uses her new relationship with Kyle to escape her boring school life. In the matter of a week, Maria finds herself thrown into a world of secret beings living right along with the one she's already know always known.
After her blood officially awakens the young hybrid battles the urge to complete the rituals of her new life while holding on to her previous values. Kyle pushes Maria to join his cause, however, because she hadn't been raised to hate the others- she can't find the will to fight her own kin.
Unknown to everyone, Maria's life is no accident but rather a plan from the powers several years in the making. Using the girl's desperation to their advantage, the three rulers of the world set their paws together to watch the game play out.
