When her mother and father die in a car crash, Sammy is lost.

The pain that threatens to swallow her up is only relieved momentarily by a terrible numbness. She doesn't feel like doing anything and happiness seems like it's a long way away.

But when her grandparents ask, she insists on going on holidays with them during summer and, side by side with her faithful border collie, Ace, she will go on a journey to help discover the one person who can make her feel whole again.
